Our first event - the Hogan Lovells & Norton Rose Fulbright solicitor panel - included a very insightful, warm conversation with the two panelists, Vera Mayzel and Elinor Nikolova who shared their stories, advice and honest reflections on life as solicitors at top international firms. A big thank you to the Newnham College catering team that outdid themselves with the most delicious canapés which the members enjoyed during the post panel networking session with the panelists.
Mishcon de Reya Art & Family Law Panel

An inspiring Art & Family Law Panel hosted by Cambridge Women in Law in collaboration with Mishcon de Reya, bringing together Amanda Gray, Partner, Silvia Devecchi, Managing Associate, and Michele Stroube, Associate.
The panel explored the intersection of art, culture, family dynamics, and the law, offering insights into a range of specialised areas of legal practice and the unique challenges that arise at the intersection of art and law. The discussion was followed by an open Q&A and networking session, giving attendees the opportunity to engage directly with the panellists and continue the conversation.
DLA Piper Corporate Crime & Investigations Discussion Panel

The Cambridge Women in Law - DLA Piper Corporate Crime & Investigations Panel featured Anya Popat and Gabi Poskute, Trainee Solicitors, and Petros Nafpliotis, Associate, who shared insights into careers in dispute resolution and wider regulatory practice.
The panel explored pathways into corporate crime, investigations, and regulatory enforcement, alongside related areas including competition, national security, and international trade. Speakers also shared their experiences of developing careers in these practice areas and offered valuable insights into the breadth of opportunities within regulatory and disputes work.
Advocacy Workshop

CWLS hosted an interactive advocacy workshop focused on developing practical advocacy skills. The session was designed to help members prepare for the Speed Moot Competition in March through guided exercises, discussion, and practical advocacy techniques in a supportive and engaging setting.
Academic Discussion Panel

In collaboration with Hughes Hall Law Society, CWLS hosted an academic discussion panel with Professor Helen Scott, Regius Professor of Civil Law, and Dr Narine Lalafaryan, Assistant Professor of Corporate Law.
Our speakers reflected on their academic journeys, shared insights from their current research, and discussed the realities of building a career and life in academia. The panel offered students a valuable opportunity to hear first-hand perspectives on academic research, career development, and life within the university environment.
42BR Speed Moot Competition

CWLS was delighted to host our first annual Speed Moot Competition in partnership with 42BR Chambers. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our judges, Karolina Zielinska and Lucas Nacif, Cambridge University alumni and barristers-at-law, for judging the competition and providing our competitors with thoughtful and constructive feedback.
Participants were presented with a labour law and discrimination problem and were challenged to develop and demonstrate their advocacy skills in a competitive moot setting. The competition provided participants with a valuable opportunity to strengthen their advocacy abilities and gain first-hand insight into the skills and experience required for practice at the Bar.
